“The Three Robbers”

“The Three Robbers” produced in 2007 was the first full length adaptation of the famous author and illustrator Tommy Unger. Published in 1961 and translated into 18 languages, Unger’s book titled “The Three Robbers” transports us into a mysterious fantasy land. The are through which a young girl named Tiffany travels through in a carriage is infamous for many robberies done by three bandits. In the middle of a very quiet night the carriage by which the girl is travelling is stopped, but surprisingly, this little girl is not worried by this turn of events and the bandits turn out not to be as mean as the legends say. Tiffany playfully uses childish lies to convince the robbers that she is a Hindi princess and is worth a fortune, but really she is an orphan headed for an orphanage. Through these lies she hopes to avoid the evil head mistress of the orphanage who makes all the children work on a beetroot plantation…

. The movie posses many artistic qualities. The classic animation and expressive characters transport the viewer to the magical nineteenth century world of the story. The story uses standard narrative techniques typical of children’s fairy tales. The film as no elements of violence whatsoever, and the storyline expresses the need of every child to be loved and to find a place they can treat as home.

“The Three Robbers” have been presented at many international film festivals. In 2007 the film received an award in the full length animated film category in Chicago as well as the Peoples Choice award in Annecy in 2008.

Trzech zbójców

Wyprodukowany w 2007 roku film "Trzech zbójców" to pierwsza pełnometrażowa adaptacja utworu autora i ilustratora o międzynarodowej sławie Tomiego Ungera. Opublikowana w 1961 roku i przetłumaczona na 18 języków książka Ungera "Trzech zbójców" wprowadza widza w tajemniczy świat baśni. Okolica, którą przemierza karoca z małą dziewczynką w środku znana jest z legend o napadach dokonywanych przez trzech zbójców. W środku głuchej nocy, w ciemnym lesie karoca zostaje zatrzymana. Jednak dziewczynka wcale nie wydaje się zmartwiona takim obrotem spraw, a łowcy skarbów okazują się nie tacy straszni. Tiffany posługując się dziecinnym kłamstwem, wmawia im, że jest hinduską księżniczką wartą całe stosy drogocennych klejnotów. Jest bowiem sierotą zmierzającą do sierocińca. Tiffany chce uniknąć losu innych dzieci, zmuszanych przez bezwzględną dyrektorkę sierocińca do pracy na plantacji buraków...

"Trzej zbójcy" prezentowani byli na wielu międzynarodowych festiwalach. W 2007 roku film dostał nagrodę za animowany film pełnometrażowy na festiwalu w Chicago, a także został wyróżniony Nagrodą Publiczności w Annecy w 2008 roku.
